THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD:

The Great Ocean Road is among the top 10 scenic roads in the world. The very scenic "Great Ocean road", runs for some 300 km from just outside Geelong through to Warrnambool on the south coast of Australia in Victoria.

A drive along here will provide you some of the most beautiful scenery in Australia.
For most of the 300 km, the road hugs the coast line thus giving a spectacular ride for the passengers, but not recommended for the driver as the road certainly needs to be driven with care.

Along the route, you'll find many stopping places to take a look, many private and secluded beaches, if you want to find somewhere private, well there is enough room for everyone.
Along the Great Ocean Road are whats called "The Twelve Apostles" These are large lumps of land scattered into the sea, sadly no longer only about 9 remain and are getting smaller all the time.

The Great Ocean Road was built in 1932 as a works project during the depression, and stretches of the country through which it runs are still very untouched.

The Coast is well equipped with camping and caravan sites along with many of the towns pubs. You can always head inland to the bushwalks, wildlife, scenery, waterfalls and lookouts of the Ottway Ranges.
